Heavenly Father, as JAM restarts this morning, we pray for that ministry. Please would it be well attended and the gospel be made clear. We pray that it would be fun and safe for the babies and toddlers, for good conversations and growing relationships between those from St John’s and those from the wider community and that over time those conversations would be good opportunities for sharing the gospel. Please would JAM act as a stepping stone by which people become part of the church family as St John’s.

In Sudan just 4.3% of the population of 2.2 million are Christians, and forced conversion and physical punishment threaten the lives of Christians across the country. Historical churches have been closed and often burnt, as have the homes of their leaders. Sexual violence is becoming a growing weapon against Christian women and girls; some are abducted and forced into sexual slavery. 2nd is Somalia, where Islamic oppression makes it difficult and dangerous to be a Christian, and openly following Jesus is impossible and it is illegal under Sharia law to convert from Islam to Christianity. We pray for those who do, and are usually disowned by their family, and sometimes executed by them. Christians have no legal protection, and are under surveillance, harassment and intimidation.
