Please would you provide us with a godly bishop who will lead the diocese faithfully.

We pray specifically for an orthodox majority in both the House of Clergy and the House of Laity, and for a General Synod led by your word that seeks your will in all its deliberations and decision-making. Thank you for the ReNew network’s desire to work with churches locally, regionally, and nationally to pioneer, establish, and secure healthy local Anglican churches. Heavenly Father, as the Guides meet in the hall this afternoon, we pray for all those who come into the church building for whatever reason throughout the week, but who are not part of the church family. Please, would they feel welcome and have a good experience of St John’s, and please, would they want to know more about who we are as your people. Please, would many of them put their trust in you and become part of the church family.

Heavenly Father, we pray for Watercolour on Wednesday as they meet in the hall this afternoon. We thank you for Ros running it, and we pray for all the church family members who attend, that you would give them wisdom and provide opportunities in their relationships and discussions with those who do not yet know you, so the gospel is made clear.

We pray too for Roxi leading an assembly at Felbridge Primary School this morning. Please would you help her to make the gospel clear in an accessible way.

Heavenly Father, we pray for the new housing being built in Felbridge. Thank you that you already know who will live in each house. Please would there be some who already know you who choose to make St John’s their home and others to whom we can reach out with the hope of the gospel who will in time come to know you through the ministry of St Johns. Give us wisdom as to how best to reach out to and welcome those who are new to our parish.

Heavenly Father, as JAM restarts this morning, we pray for that ministry. Please would it be well attended and the gospel be made clear. In Sudan just 4.3% of the population of 2.2 million are Christians, and forced conversion and physical punishment threaten the lives of Christians across the country. Historical churches have been closed and often burnt, as have the homes of their leaders. Sexual violence is becoming a growing weapon against Christian women and girls; some are abducted and forced into sexual slavery. Men, especially church leaders, are subjected to beatings and imprisonment. Lord, have mercy.
