After Wimbledon, World Cup football, the Open golf and ongoing cricket and rugby, we pray for christians in sport for their witness and fellowship, often necessarily performing on a Sunday, so missing regular teaching, support and encouragement. We pray too that with the increasing emphasis on bodily health and fitness that many will also seek spiritual wellbeing in our churches and may this be an opportunity for us to give a christian perspective on what really is important

With so much change politically in the UK and instability in the wider world, we pray for our leaders, locally, nationally and internationally. Praying especially for a solution to problems in the Middle East and provision of a vaccine and containment of Ebola in Africa, remembering in particular the Asikus in Uganda as Gift recovers from a severe malarial illness and Kathryn has so many responsibilties.

Almighty God, we remember the people of Africa who still lack the opportunities for education or medical care, and for whom untimely death is still the norm. We pray about the latest outbreak of Ebola, with its high mortality rate, and for the doctors and nurses who risk their own lives to care for others; praying that this outbreak will soon be controlled.

God of comfort, we pray for our local partner, St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley.
Hospices are constantly underfunded, so St Catherine's can't afford to use all their beds for the care of terminally ill people. We pray for all the staff as they provide the highest quality of care and dignity, so that each patient and their families may have the support they need at such a difficult time.

We thank you for JAM out toddler group this term. Thank you for all the families and childminders who we have got to know. Please continue to build those relationships and draw them nearer to you.
